Before using the deco leaves, I had to let them air out for 48 hours. They smelled strongly of petro-chemicals. Could be the odor came from the packaging and not the parchment itself.

These Poinsettia Leaves, as well as the Holly Parchment Leaves, are very attractive and add a special touch to serving plates. They're also versatile and can be used for crafts, decorations, gift wrap etc. The only drawback, which I consider significant, is a noticeable chemical odor (maybe from the ink). This posed a problem for me since I wanted to use the leaves to line boxes of cookies to present as gifts. My concern was that the flavor of cookies would be affected by the odor. So, I wouldn't recommend these for use in food packaging.
